My Story
Subgreen is a boutique sustainable graphic design, web, art, print and publishing studio established in 2008 — all made by hand with a whole lot of heart.
Lisa Major is a graphic designer, artist, illustrator and printmaker, with a background in psychology and teaching and over 20 years of creative practice. What began as Subgreen Design has grown into a studio and gallery covering brand design, web, books, textiles, wall art and limited edition prints — all under the one roof.
Subgreen is built on the philosophy of positively lovely communication — not only because the design principles and materials employed are kinder to the environment, but because there's a loveliness inherent in these more sustainable processes and their end results. It's about humanising design and creating unique, lovingly-made work that people can truly connect with — with a warmth, depth and texture that's rarely achieved working solely with digital tools.
Lisa's work incorporates hand-drawn elements, watercolours, screenprinting and block printing, alongside book design and publishing for clients and her own growing creative practice. All materials are sustainable — 100% recycled papers, organic textiles, recycled timbers and sustainable bamboo.
Lisa is based in Castlemaine and works with clients all over Australia and overseas.
With every design project, print project or wall hanging sold, a tree is planted through Carbon Neutral. Since 2008, together we've planted 1,033 trees. From small things, big things grow.
